Brookhaven Rentals

With only 3 major rivers on Long Island, the Carmans River is perhaps the most paddler friendly. The River winds 9 miles from central Long Island out to the Great South Bay. As the Suffolk County officially licensed outfitter for this river, we have exclusive access to both the upper and lower halves of the Carmans River.

Lower River Rental

The lower river rental launches right behind our shop and lets paddlers enjoy a trip though one of the few National Wildlife Refuges on Long Island - The Wertheim Refuge. The lower river rental can last anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 6 hours, as this canoe or kayak paddle is a round trip voyage. Along the lower river, paddlers are sure to see a variety of fish, turtles, birds, swans, and ducks, and can even stop for a brief hike or picnic lunch on the Indian Landing Nature Trail (a trail site that is specifically designed for paddler only access). Also, feel free to bring your fishing rod, as fishing is permitted on the lower river. No experience is needed for this paddle down / paddle back rental and this rental is available from the time we open in the morning to the last boat departing 1.5 hrs before we close at night.

General Rental Info

-Canoes can carry up to 2 adults with two small (~under 6) children.

-We hold onto a license or Credit Card as a deposit with every rental - NO EXCEPTIONS.

-Unfortunately we do not take reservations for individual rentals. We have over 100 rental canoes/kayaks and rarely run out of boats. Reservations are only taken in the case of a large group trip, which requires a minimum of 10 boats or more. Weekends are very limited; kayaks/canoes can only be held for a large group trip during the first hour we are open. Weekdays, other accomodations can be made.
